About us

Welcome to Chestnut Nursery School. We are a Devon County Council maintained Nursery School, and provide places for 2 - 4 year-olds.


We want children to be excited about coming to school and to love learning. We want them to be motivated, tuned in, and challenged. Most of all, we want children to know that success is in each and every one of them and comes as a result of their own effort. We want to bring it out. We want to give them the belief that they can improve and learn, and to be delighted and proud of their many achievements.

Funded and non-funded places for 2 - 4 year-olds available. We are now accepting applications for Autumn 2026


We can now care for your child from 8am until 5:30pm with our Breakfast and After School Club

Every Monday 09:30am - 11:00am

Our Stay and Play sessions are a popular group for parents/carers and children that run on a Monday morning from 09:30am - 11:00am (Term time only). Our next session in centre will be Monday 7th September


We will be running sessions in the following locations throughout the summer holidays:


Monday 27th July and Monday 24th August - Heavitree Pleasure Grounds (Whipton Lane) EX1 2TN from 10:00am-11:30am


Monday 3rd August - King George V Playing Fields (Topsham Road) EX2 6HE from 10:00am-11:30am


Monday 10th August - Belmont Park (Blackboy Road) EX4 6SS from 10:00am-11:30am
